Belfast Giants H.E.R.O.S

The Giant H.E.R.O.S (Hockey Education Reaching Out Society) programme uses ice hockey as a catalyst to bring young people together from
different community backgrounds, to develop greater understanding of themselves and each other. The programme focuses on personal
development and enhancing understanding and mutual respect between the young people involved.

The programme climaxed with a six-day camp in August 2010. Each day the young people were trained on the ice by the Belfast Giants players and Canadian volunteers, and when not on the ice they participated in a range of workshops and activities. All involved believe passionately in the ability of this programme to change lives; because by developing the
experiences of young people today, we will encourage them to move forward and help build a vibrant and peaceful society in the future.
