Portadown town centre was filled full of festive cheer at the weekend when the SPACE Christmas Market rocked up on the plaza full of treats and delights!

Organised by Craigavon Borough Council and the Peace Buliders Collaborative, the event was run as part of the Shared Process and Community Engagement Project (SPACE) funded through the EU’s PEACE III Programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body.

Shoppers were able to fill their Christmas stockings with beautiful gifts from the array of retailers set up on the plaza. While browsing the fairy-lit stalls of jewellery, home baking, crafts and accessories, the public were entertained by a host of local musical talent performing live.

Cookery demonstrations gave tips on some winter warmer recipes while crepes, hot chocolate and hog roast was on the menu for those in the Christmas market!

Meanwhile, free magical workshops & wonderland tours in the Millennium Court Arts Centre entertained families throughout the day. Those attending were mystified by the twinkling trees, glistening icicles and log cabins as they were guided around by Lechel the elf.

In addition, Santa’s factory took a break from making toys as kids got creative taking part in fun arts workshops, making their own ceramic winter birds and cone conifers; all topped off with a storytelling session.

The SPACE tent also pitched up at the event, enabling visitors to find out more about theSPACE project. Children were able to write their own unique letter to Santa, sprinkle it with elves dust, and post it off straight to the North Pole!

A great day out for all!!
