What a privilege it was to be asked to work on a second project with Action Deaf Youth– a fantastic organisation raising a lot of awareness and help to deaf children and young people in reaching their full potential.
For this project we also worked with the Ulster University to produce a reusable resource to encourage deaf students to attend higher education.
The film hears from a current and past student of the University, and shows highlights of an event held in Jordanstown. At this event, deaf students and their parents aired their concerns about the barriers they may face during their time in education. Further to this, there is valuable input from the disability services and other University departments about the support that can be, and is, provided for those living with deafness. We hope that this helps in the overarching aim of breaking misconceptions, challenging stereotypes and empowering deaf young people to pursue their goals in education.
